LOL, ya, I wish I knew how to use plugins as well as you! 😁 That's fair.īut there isn't a version of every single waves plugin in logic nor Ableton. They aren't linear like "x is better than y objectively" they are often just different sounds, and are subtle, and maybe you prefer one over another. DAWs generally don't come with channel strips, or things like NLS, for example. You may not like the waves plugins you've tried, fair, but waves has a number of plugins that those Daws don't even have any answer for. Just the fact you made the statement is ridiculous. If that was the case, then nobody would be selling any plugins.
There is no DAW that has better plugins than any major plugin company. They may have very good stock plugins, but waves a wide variety of all sorts of things, and some of their plugins are quite good. None of the DAWs have everything even close to everything waves has to offer. I don't think Michael Bauer has any waves plugins in his template, for example, and he's a big analog old school sort of guy who wants to do analog ITB now. For the big wigs, waves doesn't generally win as top plugin. Others will stick with them, like big engineers who will just pay the money and have access to all the plugins, and will plan on doing so indefinitely. Some people that were sticking because they want what they know will discover other options, and consider this the last straw. Waves is a lot of analog emulation, for the most part. IK multimedia, goodhertz, and stuff like that.
And there are lots of other alternatives here and there. Soundtoys has good plugins but I'd say plugin alliance and brainworx and UAD are the real waves killers.įabfilter is a different beast but top tier also. UAD needs hardware for the most part I think.
